August 2011 Man of the Month - John Rohrbeck Sr.

Man of The Month – John Rohrbeck, Sr.

I couldn’t imagine launching our Man of The Month page without recognizing one of the most generous, compassionate men I’ve ever known. For all of my life my dad, John Rohrbeck, Sr., has been a shining example of what a real man is. He’s a man of integrity and strong character. He always worked hard, played hard, and knew how to have a good time with us kids. Mostly, my dad prays hard. He’s never been ashamed of his faith and has always done more to actually serve and bless people than just telling them about it.

I learned early on from my dad about opening doors for women and being a gentleman. He taught me how to correctly apply “mack mack” which is what I called his after shave because of the “smack smack” sound it made when he applied it. I can still smell the Old Spice he used to wear. I also learned what it means to work hard from my dad. There were times when he worked 3 or 4 jobs in order to provide for our family and patiently care for my mother through her illness.

My dad is also an entrepreneur at heart. He had always been on the front end of the developing home computer trend and eventually launched his own business which allowed him to share his passion with others. And, he has always supported me in my own creative efforts and been my biggest fan. He laughs with those who laugh, cries with those who cry, and dances with those who dance.

As a pastor of a small country church with a big heart, he’s still the ultimate example of a true gentleman. He’s a good friend, a supportive husband, and a cherished father.

Here’s to you Dad - The Valor Man of the Month!
